What should parents check before choosing an AI tutor?

A safe AI tutor should do more than sound friendly. Ask four simple questions:

  1. Does it stay focused on learning, rather than becoming an open chat?
  2. Does it help my child think, rather than simply do the homework?
  3. Can I understand what data it uses and what I can see as a parent?
  4. Is there a clear safety process if my child says something worrying?

Those are the questions this page answers.

AI tutoring needs clear boundaries.

Kodori is built to keep tutoring focused on the learning task in front of your child. It is not a general-purpose chatbot that can be asked anything at any time.Safety checks sit around the tutoring experience. If those checks cannot run, Kodori does not continue with a normal tutoring response.

The point is simple: your child should get help with a maths, English or science question, not be left to navigate an AI conversation alone.

If a message suggests your child may need more help

A child should not be punished for saying something difficult. If a message suggests that a child may need support beyond tutoring, Kodori follows its safeguarding process. That process may include a review by the Kodori team and contact with a parent or carer where appropriate. The response should be proportionate to what has been said.

Parents stay informed without watching every word

Parents can see a clear summary of each session, including the topic covered, how long it took and where another explanation may help. We do not show a word-for-word tutoring transcript in the parent view. Children need room to say, “I do not understand this”, without feeling that every attempt is being judged.
The aim is a useful balance: your child has space to think aloud, while you can still see what they worked on and when they may need more support.

What Kodori will not do.

It will not do the homework for your child. Kodori gives guided hints and explanations, then lets your child do the next step themselves.
It will not promise grades or exam results. A few tutoring sessions cannot predict a GCSE grade or tell you exactly what will happen in an exam.
It will not make a big judgement from one short session. A useful picture of learning takes time. Kodori should be honest when there is not enough evidence yet.
It will not replace school, a live human tutor or specialist support. It can provide another explanation when a child is stuck. It cannot take the place of the adults who know your child best.
It will not pretend it is always right. AI can make mistakes. If a question or explanation looks wrong, parents and children should be able to report it easily.
